I recently purchased this cleaner and was immediately impressed by the suction power. It's very strong, so be careful. It didn't seem to lose suction either. I have a house rabbit, so fine fur in the carpets, is an issue, however this cleaner seemed to deal with it fantastically. I didn't think my carpets were that dirty when I first tried it out, but I had to empty the dust compartment 3 times, with the amount that came out of them....presumably previously hidden for years! The cleaner looks good, no fussy bits or lurid colour, is quiet, has a good range of accessory heads and empties easily. My only slight criticism is that it won't balance on the stairs, as it's too wide, so you have to clean the bottom steps from ground level and the higher steps, from the landing. Other than that.....I think it is good value for the money, compared to other cyclonic cleaners.

Disappointing

I purchased this vaccum after using an AEG for 20 years and thought that next time I would have a bagless cleaner. I chose this model because of its size and weight and that I really didn't need all the fancy bells and whistles most vacs have. Russell Hobbs has always been a reliable name but I was disappointed with this cleaner. Not only was the suction not as good as my old faithfull, when I came to empty the dirt out of the dust bin as recommended daily by the manufacturer the latch proved to be faulty, so I was unable to empty it.Unfortunately Russell Hobbs could not forward a replacement part even though they were helpful to me in my dilemma, so I decided to return to Amazon for a refund.On the plus side it is a subtle colour, ideal for hard flooring, is compact and has easy to use instructions. It also would be ideal for properties perhaps with no pet hair to clear up. Would however, be suitable as a second machine to use upstairs or in less populated areas. If you like your vacs suction to be able to lift the corner of a rug this is not for you, even on the highest suction this one does not do it - buy one that is over 1400 watts.

Excellent alternative to Dyson!

Having been an avid Dyson fan for the past 20+ years, I decided to risk buying a different make when it was on a really good special offer. In fact the whole thing cost just about what I would have had to pay just to replace the Dyson contact head. I was very pleasantly surprised at just how good the suction is. I have used it on thick Persian rugs and it lifts them off the floor - and it is equally as good on my tiled and wood floors. I have only one gripe - the cable just isn't long enough! It means disconnecting and plugging in more often which is a nuisance, otherwise it would have been 5 star.
