nice but flawed...

At £99 this is (not surprisingly) the most expensive kettle I have ever purchased. Like most kettles ours lives in the kitchen and, as we have to look at it every day, we wanted something attractive, functional and totally reliable. We love the design, style, colour and particularly the temperature facility for herbal teas and coffee etc.For 24 hours it was fine but then the lid refused to open. Over the next few days the lid operated intermittently regardless of the kettle temperature. There was no obvious cause for the problem but sometimes it would decide to open and other random times it would stubbornly remain closed. The final straw was when the lid popped open whilst heating up the water - fortunately it had not got up to boiling temperature.For the price we expected the 'perfect kettle' and we very nearly got it. A beautiful piece of work let down by a malfunctioning lid and my problem now is how to rate it. Were it not for the lid problem I would give it 5 stars but as it becomes randomly useless (but still attractive) I can only give it 2 stars.Maybe ours was a 'one off' and others may be ok but needless to say it is now on its way back to Amazon and hopefully from them back to Russell Hobbs.

This is a stunning kettle and looks great in the kitchen however their does seem to be problems with opening the lid with the button.I've ordered this kettle almost 4 times now (Twice with Next & Once with House of Fraser) and they all seemed to have a sticky lid after a week or so. However this one from Amazon has been opening fine since purchase.I'd recommend this item as you will love it in your kitchen and i also get comments on how great it looks. Toaster really nice too.
